The
60's, a time of Love, Peace, war and the growth and pinnacle of the British
film industry! It is a fair comment - I feel - to say that the 1960's
was the British cinema hay-day with studios such as Rank and Hammer producing
and distributing some wonderful classics including the Carry On's (unique!!)
and The Devil Rides out, Dracula series, and Frankenstein series (amogst
others). The fact that Peter Cushing and more recently Christopher Lee have starred in the Star Wars trilogy is a testament to this period of British acting class. During this period Roger would be seen primarily in our homes donning the halo, however this did not stop him from making films - so long as they fitted with his hectic schedule! During this time he met Luisa - who would become his third wife after Dorothy Squires reluctantly agreed to a divorce. The pair however stayed friends, and she always loved him until her death a few years ago. His films during this time included 'Crossplot' and the Saint double episodes - including 'The Fiction Makers'. It is clear that contractual obligations ensured Roger could only really get work in Europe regarding his films as demonstrated in the list below. Many are hard to find - but hopefully we can get film synopsis' and details for you, the reader!
