14th Oct 2007 - News: HAPPY 80th BITHDAY to Sir Roger. In a career now spanning a massive 7 decades Sir Roger continues to captivate audiences and promote child awareness through his work with UNICEF. Further updates will be coming soon with an 8 part dossier on some key aspects of Sir Roger's career and life. Unfortunately, due to a problem with the hosting company servers I no longer appear to have email from anyone contacting the site. Please bare with me whilst this is rectified. In the meantime if you wish to contact me, please do so via the new Forum. Site News: 2006 News Archives/Updates are now online. 2nd Oct 2007 - Misc News: As many of you will now be aware - it is with a sad hand that I update the site with news of Lois Maxwell's death. HAving played Miss Moneypenny in 14 of the Bond films, only suprassed by Desmond Llewelyn's 17, she was a stalwart figure in the franchise and was always full of humour and charm. Having known Sir Roger from their stint at RADA in 1944, she swiftly etched a career both here and across the Atlantic. Hailing from Canada, her career following Dr No saw her in many of the stalwart shows of the 60s - the Saint, The Persuaders!, The Baron and others. Passing away in Austalia, following her diagnosis a few years past with cancer, she will be sadly missed by the Bond and acting communities and fan bases alike. I would like to send my condolences to the family. Sir Roger has made a very heartfelt and touching discussion whcih is available on the BBC news website here and video here. Website News: Firstly - I know its been AGES since I updated - and I had planned to do something special what with it being the site's 10th birthday this year, but as usual Work has said 'you can have no life'. Anyway, I cannot believe that it has been 10 years since The Rising Eyebrow first appeared - please come back for a brief history of the site, and why it materialised and what is planned for the future - I have many plans!!!! 20th May 2007 - Misc News: For those Movie savvy amongst you, you probably know that for some time a movie of classic 70's hit The Persuaders! has been on the cards. This weekend it was confirmed that hugh Grant would take the mantle of Lord Brett, whilst George Cloony (I know - tragic!) would take on Danny. An interesting pairing - one which I feel is mismatched and liable to potential disaster if cloony plays Danny's 'wild boy chamer' wrong. The movie is due to hit our screens in December 2008. 05th May 2007 - Misc News: Ever wondered where Jane Seymour disappeared too recently? Well, the curiousity can be ended as she is a representative model for Debenhams (UK Highstreet multi-brand store). In an advert hosting a pool party it's nice to see Jane looking so well ;o) I must find her personal trainer!! 03th May 2007 - Updates: Well, finally I am finding some time to do some updates - which are much deserved for you fans who have stuck with me through this difficult last few years. I have added 2 of the older interviews - i know i currently have 9 listed - 3 are available, however this list will increase as I get hold of some of the material over the past few years. :o) 18th March 2007 - News: Firstly it is with sadness that the webmistress writes this update, following the news last week of Gareth Hunt's death. Anyone who is a fan of 1960s and 70s Spy shows will know him as Gambit from The Avengers, starring alongside Patrick MacNee and Joanna Lumley (both of whom starred within the Bond franchise). In other news, Sylvia Syms, who starred as Amos Klein in The Fiction Makers, a 2 parter from The Saint (later converted to a Saint 'Feature'). She is due to be an unrelated character named Olive, who appears from April when she comes to Peggy's aid. Might make DeadEnders worth watching for a while as it sounds like she is due to appear throughout the year. Lastly, I am now - clearly - back online after moving house so please pop back in the forthcoming months for updates. Apologies for this whole process taking so long, but commitments beyond my control have taken a front seat. News Archive for 2005 has been created, making the index a smaller page |
